I talked with Mike, Alex's dad, a couple of weeks ago. I don't know if I mentioned it. I talked with him about taking Alex for a few weeks here and there over the summer while she's not working. Of course he agreed to that. I told him, simply, that everyone gets time to themselves except for me. And that I think it's only fair that he let her stay with him every now and then to give me that kind of break. This will be the first time in a couple of years, I think, that he's taken her for that length of time. In fact, I think he quit doing that when she started high school.
So, Alex is leaving for a four-day weekend with her daddy. It's not a whole week, but it's good enough for now. Plus, she has to take her GED soon. I sure hope she passes. I'm sure she will. Once she has that little piece of paper, it's time for some tough love. And I mean that in the kindest of parental ways. After all, she is turning 18 in TWO WEEKS!
I sure wish she would take an office job right off the bat. I've found that it's easier to climb the financial ladder when you work in an office and can show your intelligence and expand your career options. Hey, that's how it worked for me. I wish I would have taken an office job much sooner than I did. I LOVE my job!!!!
