Today I took Alex to her first day of GED testing. It was the Math & English portion of the test. Afterwards, I asked her how it went and she said it went well. Tomorrow she takes the second part which is Science, Reading, and Social Studies (I think). She's a smart girl. I'm sure she'll do great!
Alex's birthday is coming up VERY soon! If you have her email address, please drop her a note to say "Happy Birthday!" She will be the big 18! Woo hoo!
Yesterday after work I took her around (again) to pick up applications from various retail stores that she wants to work at. I'm hoping that with her test out of the way she'll take a step up and really put a heartful of effort into finding a job. I have a sneaking suspicion that her dad had a talk with her while she was at his house this week. He's such a good man. I really appreciate what Mike does as a father. And I honestly believe he respects my skills as a parent too.
As for Alex and her birthday gift, I have no clue what to get her. The girl is spoiled and has just about everything she wants. What could I possibly get her?? Any ideas? Send them my way.

Cash may sound tacky and impersonal but my boys, years later, still talk about the wad of cash that I gave each of them on their 18th birthday. It gave them the opportunity to purchase something that "they" wanted...though not necessarily needed...but that's okay.
