Today, the goal is NOT to get out into the mix of all the crazy people driving around out there. UGH! What a madhouse! It was pretty bad on Wednesday, before Thanksgiving.
Wednesday when I got off from work, I met Alex and her friend Jennifer up at Lazio's. We decided to go see "Twilight" at the big theatre. The girls convinced me that the movie was still new enough that there would be a pretty large crowd and that we should get their early. We sat and talked for a bit and then headed to the theatre... at six o'clock. The show started at 7:15! So, we got there and everyone got their popcorn and drinks and we waited.... and waited... and waited. By the time we got IN the theatre to sit down, the popcorn was gone (at least mine was). We needed more munchies so I went back out and got nachos for me and a hotdog for Alex. Let me just say that no place that makes you sit in a packed area for 2-3 hours should sell CHILI! UGH!
The movie wasn't bad, but it was a little "chicky" for me. It's supposed to be all vampires and stuff, but in reality, it's a romantic drama. Not a lot of biting going on.
After the movie we went to "Buffalo Wild Wings", but I wasn't hungry. Afterwards, I went home to bed and the girls, apparently, went to Lawrence and hung out for quite a while, mixing it up with the bar crowds. They didn't go IN any bars, but just chatted with the people. LOL.
Yesterday, Thanksgiving, I went to my friend Kim's house to have dinner with her and her family. (Her brother is so HOT!) It was really good. Her brother smoked a ham, her mom made the turkey, and the desserts were AWESOME! After dinner, I ran "mom" and myself down to Starbucks (thank goodness they were open) for coffee, because Kim does not have a coffeemaker. (Guess what YOU'RE getting for Christmas!?) We played cards for a while afterwards. I only one one round of SCAT. It's like 31.
When I finally got home, Alex was laying on the couch, watching a movie. I decided to get her out for a bit and go shopping. What a crazy idea! We went several places, but the only place that we found open at 8pm was K-Mart. Not our place of choice, but it wasn't busy and we wanted to kill some time. Alex bought way too much stuff, but not crap. It was useful stuff. Clothes mainly. But it's so nice that she can pay for her own things. :) I'm so proud of that kid! I love my baby.
Oh, I have to throw in the weirdo story. After we were done shopping, Alex was hungry, so we went to IHOP. O-M-G!! We got sat next to the craziest guy and his friend! I'm not talking "Silly" kind of crazy, I'm talking "don't meet in a dark alley" kind of crazy! He was a loud and obnoxious truck driver, talking about how the bible was some sort of fairy tale, and how Jesus was lucky he wasn't around during the Salem Witch Trials, and on and on. He said he had a PENTAGRAM tatooed on his stomach under his shirt! OMG, and if anyone could say "f***" more times in one conversation, I don't want to hear it! He's the kind of guy that makes me want to get up and slap some sense into him.
One more thing before I go. I got an email from "Dana". If you missed out on the scoop, Dana is my sister, who used to be my brother Chris. Yeah, you read that right. Anyway, I get an email from Dana simply saying "is it snowing?". HUH?? I told "Dana" that if "she" wanted to know where it was snowing, "she" should check the weather channel. I also told "her" that I'm not trying to be mean, but I'm really having a hard time with the sex change thing. It makes me mad and confused. If she wants to say something, say it, but don't send me little emails asking dumb questions. That's ridiculous. He should just say "hey, how are you and Alex doing?" and on and on. Am I being too harsh?? After all, in ten years, the first time I talk to Chris, he drops a bombshell that he's getting a sex change. Then, I don't hear from him all year long, if not longer, and THEN "she" asks about the freaking snow! Maybe I just don't understand.
In the end, I had a great T-day, good shopping with the kid, saw a lousy movie, shopped at K-mart, ate next to a crazy person, and my "sister" asked about the snow. Wow. Who says life is boring??? LOL.
