I found the cord and software for our digital camera! Yeah! As promised. Here are our pics of our “American Idol Auditions” experience.
Here is a panoramic scene of the line we were in for registration on Wednesday (Aug 6, 2008) morning. We arrived around 5am. This was the scene around 7:30am. That’s Alex in the circle of red. Hi baby!!
More shots of the crowd.
Here we are FINALLY at the front of the line, around 9am.
And this is the escalator out, after registration.
That ended day one of our adventure. On to Friday, when we had to be at the Kemper Arena at FIVE AM!! UGH!
Here are some young ladies from in line. The two cheerleaders made it through to the next round. The young black woman at the bottom of the pic was INSANELY talented, but I lost track of her and don’t know if she made it through or not.
We were much MUCH closer to the front when it came to audition day. We got up at 2am, left Topeka around 3am and were in line by 4:15am. So sleepy!!
A panoramic scene from inside the arena. No, those aren’t twins there. That girl just kept moving around!! HOWEVER, there was a set of twins there. They looked like a version of the Olson Twins. If you watch Idol, keep an eye out for that pair of look-a-likes.
Here is a pic of the judging “booths”. There were 12 booths and the judge at booth 12 put ONE person through over the course of three hours! From where we were sitting, we could hear some of the contestants at his booth. There was one contestant, in particular, that was amazing! Of course, he didn't put her through. Our whole section joined in for a big "BOO NUMBER 12!"
Here is a bad pic of the American Idol logo rotating on the big screen above center court of the Arena.
There were five girls with signs. When you put them together they stated “I sing best for Seacrest”. Then, lo and behold, here comes Ryan Seacrest! (Check for video of this on my MySpace page at a later time.)
Here’s a couple of shots of the crowd from inside the arena. The entire lower level was packed, and I think there were four or five sections in the balcony filled.
Here’s a shot of Alex at the audition station. Only auditioners were allowed on the floor, otherwise I would have gotten a better shot.
Again, I got some awesome video footage. I’m slowly getting my vids uploaded to my MySpace page. Check them out! To see the musicians in line with us click here = http://myspacetv.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=40450495.
Oh, you’re wondering if Alex made it through the initial audition process. Well, no. She didn’t make it past the initial auditions. It was her first audition for anything in her life though. I was proud of her for even wanting to try. And the experience was worth it, for the most part. But OH were WE TIRED!! LOL.
