I'm writing a murder story and was up til two in the morning working on it. It's gonna be great! But I was extremely tired by the time I went to bed. Unfortunately, my sleep was cut short when my phone rang at 9:30 this morning from Mother.
Apparently my grandmother had had some pressure in her chest and she freaked out and called 911. Mom wanted me to go up to the hospital to sit with her until we knew what the problem was. I got up, dressed, put a face on and told Alex what was going on. Then, I was out the door.
As I was on the interstate, almost to Gage, I heard a loud POP! sound. Not good. The van didn't waver one bit. I could not figure out what the problem was. But, I pulled off the interstate at MacVicar and stopped at a gas station. Sure enough, I blew out one of my back tires. UGH! When will the car troubles ever end?!? Mom was working cattle, so I couldn't call her. Mac was in Manhattan so I couldn't call him. I decided to call a cab and go to the hospital, then take a cab home afterwards to get someone to help me out (just in case I needed help).
I went in the gas station to get change for the phone and the number for a cab. A young man was working and his grandfather was there at the time. "Grandpa" asked where I was headed. When I told him I was only going to the hospital, he offered to give me a ride, which I graciously accepted.
That's how my day started. I ended up staying at the hospital in the emergency room with my grandmother for about an hour and a half. I was able to call Mac from there. I knew he would be in town this afternoon, so I called him for help. By the time I got tired of listening to my grandmother's "yap", I went out to wait for Mac who was picking me up at the hospital and taking me to fix my tire. Good timing! He showed up just as I walked out the door. Whew!
When we got to my car, my mom was there. Between mom, Mac and me, we got that sucker changed in under five minutes. Woo Hoo! I thanked everyone for their help. Mac went on about his day. Mom, however, was overheated and hungry. Plus she smelled HORRIBLE from running cattle! ICK! I told her she should go to my house, relax in the air conditioner, get a cool drink, and I would get lunch for her and Alex. She agreed.
After I got the girls taken care of, I went back to the hospital. Grandmother was soon released with a diagnosis of "a bad case of acid reflux". They unhooked her from all the machines, I took her home, and I ended up getting home close to five o'clock.
I decided to make something for dinner that both Ariel and I could eat. She's still on her "vegetarian" diet. I miss meat for dinner. BUT, I compromised. Who doesn't like veal parmesan? Alex. So, I made EGGPLANT parmesan! Oh, it was AWESOME! Who knew that all you need to do with eggplant is peel it, slice it and toss it into anything that uses slices of meat? I didn't. It was soooo good! Plus, it helps that I'm just a good cook. LOL.
So, now that my day is almost done, I'm blogging. I need to take a long hot shower and wash this day off of me too. What a day!
