Today is the big day! It's Alex's 18th Birthday! Yeah!
Things did not go as I planned them today. But, all in all, we both had a good time. We are, after all, best friends. And who else would she rather spend her day with but me? LOL. You may not believe it, but it's true!
Today was like any other day, really. It started around 10am (it IS my day off!). Alex was babysitting her niece, so we got the carseat and put it in the van to strap the little darling in for transportation. LOL. Then, we went to the coffeehouse. We talked and laughed and tried to come up with a plan for the day. Hmmm. After the coffeehouse, we went to Old Chicago for pizza! YUMMY! We love pizza. The waiter asked Alex how old her "daughter" was. This always cracks me up. He was totally flirting with Alex and she had NO IDEA! I swear he was at our table at least 10 times during our hour long luncheon. UGH. Anyway, the staff came and sang Happy Birthday to Alex and she sat there gracefully and was not embarrassed. Good for her.
Well, by now we're not sure what we want to do but we're stuffed and it's naptime for the baby (and for me too). We went home and took a little ciesta. Avah's daddy came to pick her up around 3 and I woke up around 4. Then we were off again.
Not knowing what we wanted to do, we fell into our old habitual routine: Coffee, movies, Walgreens. After we hit our three favorite spots, we headed home to pig out on junk food, watch our movie(s) and hit the sack. Oh, we did manage to actually have leftover pizza for dinner. We're not big on leftovers, but hey.... it's PIZZA! LOL.
No, I did not get her registered to vote, but there's still time. We didn't go to the casino, and we didn't go to the theatre. But tonight, before she went off to bed, my baby was a happy young adult. It didn't take a fancy party with balloons and friends, or an expensive gift or cash, or even a homemade birthday cake to make my baby happy. She was content just hanging with Mom. Do you know how good that feels?
Once again, I have to exclaim "I love my baby girl!" Happy Birthday kid. Now,....... get a job! LOL!
