I have had a most awesome weekend so far.
Friday, when I got home from work, one of Alex's friends was over. Then, another came over and they stayed the night. This is always fun for us because it enforces that I am the "cool mom" and that Alex is someone that people want to hang out with. Things were never like that when I was in school. I did not have a cool mom who would let me have my friends over any time they wanted to hang out, and my house was not where they wanted to hang out anyway. :( But, for Alex, her friends are always welcome and usually enter without even knocking. It's more like "The 70's Show" without the pot. LOL.
Saturday, I got up, made the girls cinnamon french toast and hot chocolate. Then they watched movies and whatnot until noonish. My friend Brad came over after everyone was gone (Yeah). I haven't spent much time with him in the past 10 years. In fact, we just started reacquainting ourselves over the past couple of years.
Yesterday Brad and I went for coffee, of course, and retold old stories, new stories, and we laughed and laughed for more than an hour. Then we came to my house and watched a movie with Alex. Afterwards, walked through the Rose Garden and Ward-Meade Park. It was so nice to spend time with someone that I truly enjoy being with. It's like not seeing your best friend for 10 years, then picking up right where you left off. If you can't imagine that, then you can't possibly know how happy I was.
Shortly after Brad left, my friend Kim came and picked me up for a night out to see Charles McVey. Have I expressed how much love I have for this man?? LOL.
Kim and I went to Varsity Blues around 8ish, found a table, and ordered dinner. Just about the time we were done eating, one of Kim's daughters showed up, along with my other friend Mel and her husband. We talked and laughed for quite some time. The bands started late. And it was SO LOUD WE COULDN'T UNDERSTAND ANY WORDS. What??!! LOL. Before Charles started, he came by our table, slipped me another CD of his, and asked what we thought of the opening band. I told him that the mic was too loud and the drum needed a muffler. He said "I hope WE don't have that problem." And they didn't. The drums were muffled, the mic was fine, everything was awesome!!
Ok, I did have some drinks at the bar. I usually don't, but I was out, not driving, had friends around me, and was having a "grand ol' time" with Charles on stage. I don't know how much I drank, but I was pretty toasted by the time we left. One more hug from Charles and we were out the door.
Today, I am on cloud nine. I got to see two of my favorite men this weekend, spent time with "my girls" and my girl friends, saw some live music, and woke up without any hangover or anything. It could get better, but I'm not asking for anything more but to hold on to this giddy feeling I have inside.
I am so freakin happy!
