Saturday Night Fever

Saturday night, a large group of people I know went to the Topeka Civic Theater to see "Lend Me A Tenor". It was great, funny, hilarious at parts, and definately entertaining in all aspects. Dinner theatres are the best! Good food, good company, good show. It was all wonderful.

I really loved the ending when they did a one minute retelling of the entire story with their actions; running around the stage, summing up the entire storyline. Absolutely wonderful!

Now, the only part that was completely frustrating for me was the "finding a date for the show" part. My mother, of course, made the comment "this is something new for you, huh? Not being able to find a date..." UGH! Yes, mother. I've always been able to find a date for any event in the past. But, I've raised the bar. I'm not gonna ask just any old Joe Schmoe to go with me. I wanted to go with someone who would actually be enjoyable.

As you know, last weekend, I had talked with Justin for a while. I don't recall asking him to go with me, but I'm sure I mentioned the show. Wednesday, he called me at work to see if I "still wanted him to go" to the event. Since I didn't recall asking him, I simply replied something that's all blurred to me now, but I know that at some part in the short conversation I said "I don't know exactly what your situation is...". He said he would call back later that evening, which of course he didn't. That's Justin. Always saying he'll call and doesn't. Does he think I'm waiting by the phone??

I asked one of the Baristas at the coffeehouse to go. He's very into the theatre and singing and whatnot. Good kid too. He's going to major in theatre, I think. But, unfortunately, he was unavailable also.

Third time's a charm right? I asked my ex-husband to go with me. He's always entertaining. Another person who could not make it.

As frustrating as this all is to me, I DID end up with a date for the show. Teri, a lady that works close by and a wonderful person, did not have a ticket to the show. She was my date, and she was lovely. I love to be in good company.

After the show, some of us decided to "go out". LOL. We went to Jul's Coctail Club. Now, picture this. I'm not someone who frequents establishments with dance floors and liquor. I didn't know how to act, what to say to anyone other than my friends, but I did know how to drool over some of the total hotties that were there.

I am such a dork! Ok, I saw a guy. He's hot, right? But...... me, I spaz out. I don't know what to say, can't take a step forward to approach him, AND!!!! when we all FINALLY decide to hit the dance floor, I fall down the flight of steps! UGH!! There were only TWO freakin steps there too!!! OUCH!

Overall, the evening went very well. I had a good time oogling at the men, talking and laughing with my friends, and I wasn't overly embarrassed with the fall since I landed on my knees instead of my face. LOL.

What a night!
