Dinner Guests

I'm lame, and I didn't do anything for Mother's Day. My daughter didn't do anything for Mother's Day either. Ce la vie. But, I did invite my mother and her husband for dinner today to make up for it. Dinner for guests is on the list of "my forte"-s. LOL. It was a southern meal: BBQ chicken, corn on the cobb, fried rice, coleslaw, and my mom made some sort of lemon custard-y dessert. It was very good. And, for Mike, we watched "Flushed Away" because he loves Wallace and Gromit, so I knew he'd like this movie. He did.

I've had a migraine off and on for the past two days. Not good. Fortunately, it comes on when I don't have to do anything (like cook). I think it's finally gone completely. Advil Migraine is a miracle worker!! If you have to use an OTC migraine medicine, this one works best, because it's a liquid gel capsule, like vitamin E. Good stuff.

Let me just say that I'm tired of seeing the commercials for "Starter Wife". Sure, it looks interesting, but it's easier to say "I'm gonna start over" than it is to actually start over. Trust me, I've tried. My motivation is lacking. I need to do something different, but why now? I have at least another year or so before Alex heads off to college. Logical thinking tells me that THAT would be the time for any major changes. As it is, "free time" is limited. I'm not going to dwell on it though.

I went and played tennis this weekend. It was a good time. Sure, I lost, as usual. But, it was still fun. I'm out of shape, but that was just what I needed... something to get me off my ass and moving around. Plus, it's always fun to compete against someone (even if I don't win).

Mei (Alex's japanese friend) is on her way back to Japan in about 10 days. Tuesday, my house will be filled with teens as they have one final overnighter before Mei leaves. She will truly be missed. What a wonderful person she is, and I'm happy that Alex befriended her. In fact, Mei said that Alex was the first person to come up and introduce herself. They instantly hit it off and have been very close friends all year. I'm sure gonna miss that little girl.

Well, tomorrow is another day, and I have to work. That's good though. I love my job.
