Footsteps

Following in someone's footsteps is hard. Sons try to follow in their fathers', while daughter's try not to follow in their mothers'. Children try to be better parents than their's were, while their own children do the same. All in all, it's difficult. What's even more difficult is trying not to fall backwards into your own footsteps.

As we grow older, supposedly we grow wiser. Still, old habits die hard. It's a battle to break any cycle that you've been accustomed to you entire life: Drinking; smoking; drugs; eating; biting your nails. The list of bad habits goes on and on. We all have them. So, what do we do to fix it? We ask for help.

Once again, I'm at that point of therapy. It works for some, not for others. Sometimes, I just say "fuck it" and do my own thing, despite what the therapists think. (That's right, I've been to more than one.) But, sometimes, they open a door to another path, or another option. I'll tell ya, the worse part of therapy is that it sometimes is ONLY 55 minutes long. The second worse thing is that sometimes it's entirely 55 minutes TOO long. LOL.

I'm going back. I should have gone back before now, but I'm a stubborn ass most of the time. And those of you who truly know me, already knew that. LOL.

Habits??  You bet we all have them.  I spent a lifetime smoking and was able to kick the habit at least a thousand times (am I good or what?).  It wasn't until last November that I was finally (???) able to kick it for longer then I have ever kicked it.  It's still tough some days (even 9 months later) but the end result is that I feel much better (if only I got better looking too).  Soooo, hang in there kid, you are tough as nails...you can change if you really want to.
