Rent

Alex and I went to see "RENT" tonight. I didn't know anything about the story other than it was a musical. I wish I had gone in with some knowledge of the story. I either didn't "get it" or I didn't like it. I'm not sure which.

First of all, I didn't realize that it contained AIDS. I didn't know it contained DRUGS. I didn't know it contained Homosexuality. To each their own. I say "live your life to the fullest with someone you care about, regardless of their sex, their race, their religion, or their beliefs."

Second of all, I didn't know the WHOLE movie would be full of singing. I thought there would be dialog, then a song, then dialong, then a song. I'm thinking that this would have been best left on Broadway. For a broadway show, I could have been in full awe of the performance.

My friend, Dana, has seen this movie NINE TIMES. She loves it. I'm gonna have to ask her what it is about it that she admires so much. If you've seen the movie, and you love it too, fill me in on the "why". I really want a different view of it.

On the upside, I came out with these thoughts: Love someone. Give your heart to them and let them hurt you with honesty to make you better, love you tenderly to make you whole, and share your life with you to make you happy and fulfilled. I think we all have an "Angel" out there to complete us. Hopefully we won't have to wait until they're gone before we realize that that person was our angel watching over us all along. Love, love, love, and be afraid to be without love.
