They say that ignorance is bliss. I believe this to be true. Probably not in the sense that most people do. Pain, for instance. If you don't know that something is supposed to hurt, then it probably won't. If you don't know something is dangerous, then you won't be afraid, therefore you won't tense up and get hurt. For example, drunk drivers are usually the survivors in auto collisions.
When I was about 15, I was coming home, riding with a friend in a pick up truck. She was driving. We were going down an extremely steep hill at a speed too fast for my comfort. When I told her to slow down, she stepped on the brake too hard and we rolled 3 times down the bank of a high-incline raveen, flipping head over tail, landing at the creek bed, upside down. We were disoreinted, but we were in one piece. Nothing more than a few scratches. Amazing.
When a baby teethes, it cries of course. They say that if an adult had to go through the teething process, the pain is so great, that it would kill the person teething. Fortunately, babies only know comfort and discomfort. They do not understand happy, sad, or pain. These are "learned" feelings.
I believe that ignorance is a most blissful thing.
