Full Day!

It's been a little busy in my world lately. Not that I mind. I love it! It's nice to get out and do anything anymore. I don't get out enough. Thursday night, I took Alex up to get her hair cut. The guy who cut her hair is an acquaintance of mine that I met through the coffeehouse. (He's HOT!!! ... and over 40, but you wouldn't know it!) The thing is, wherever we go, if Alex and I are in a good mood,.... WATCH OUT! Because we get a little crazy, very giggly, and a little obnoxious. You know those kids at the restraunt that make you crazy cause they're SO LOUD??? Yeah, that's us. But Lee (the hottie) jumped right in and joined us on our bandwagon. It's okay, there really wasn't anyone else in the place as far as customers. It was a good time. Alex LOVES her hair!

After the haircut, Alex and I went to Johnny Carino's for dinner. OMG. The bread came, then the appetizers came, then the salad, then the meal. Just boom boom boom, one right after the other. I told the waiter "you guys need to slow it down in the kitchen back there!" Although I meant it, I said it with a smile. During dinner, Alex and I talked some more. She got me caught up on all the goings-on that was happening in her world with her "party pals" and at work. She really does tell me everything, sometimes a milder version of what happened, but I still get the general idea.
Towards the end of dinner, we noticed a boxing match on TV. We each picked a guy to win. Alex picked her guy based on the fact that he had a mustache. LOL. I thought my guy was black, but it turns out he was just a darker mexican, and he kept throwing long hits instead of short jabs! WTH?? Doesn't he know how to box? We watched that for about 5 rounds, then left and went home.

I took yesterday off work so that I could hang out with my friend Brad. We don't see each other very often, and he was on vacation this week, so we decided to take the day to do whatever we felt like. He's not an early riser on his days off, so I planned a couple of things before we were to meet up.

I was supposed to take the tag from the van in for a refund, but I knew it was going to be crazy crowded, so I passed on that (for now). Instead, I woke up Alex and took her out to breakfast. After that, I went downtown and got my hearing checked. Perhaps you didn't know this, but about seven years ago, I had 50% hearing loss in my right ear. They did a surgery to replace the Stapes. My hearing test results were great. The administrator said that she would not have expected such great results after that kind of surger. :)

Brad met me at my house, and we went out to a few places. My goal was to find a microwave stand for my kitchen. We started at Big Lots. Brad said that this was only the second time he had been there, and that I was the one who had taken him the first time too. We didn't find a stand, but we did find some massive storage books for CDs/DVDs. That was another thing that had been on my list for a while.
We headed over to Target to see if they had the stand. They DID! Woo Hoo! I bought one and also bought a cake display stand. You know how I'm always baking, and I've never had a display stand, but always wanted one. It's nice.
After our shopping, we headed to Old Chicago for lunch. Brad had never been there before either. (Does this guy live in a box or under a rock?) We got a pizza and it was awesome! I love pizza, but this was really great pizza. I've eaten there before, several times, but don't recall ever having pizza from there. I will next time!
We decided to head over to Barnes and Noble to get our "after meal" coffees. Brad is a absolute book worm and I am a coffee fiend, so it worked out. Except, when we got to B&N, the stupid coffee steamer was broken! UGH! FINE! Brad picked out a book that he wanted and we decided to just make coffee at my house.

At home, Alex was up and doddling on her laptop. (STILL her favorite Christmas present EVER.) We had about 30 minutes before I had to take her to work and Brad was going home. We all chatted for a bit while Alex sorted her CDs into one of the storage books I'd bought and Brad & I had coffee. My mom even popped by to show off her new suit for working on TV. (That's a story for another time.)

I took Alex to work, went back to see Hottie Lee so that he could put some layers in my hair, and then I came home. I was supposed to watch Alex's neice last night, but at the last minute, Alex's sister changed plans and sent the baby with an actual family member. Alex was very disappointed. :( So, I called another friend of mine to hang out with for a while and spent the evening chatting and putting together the microwave stand I bought.

It was a busy day, but I had a good time. :) I love my friends.
