Busy Weekend...

Wow! What a jamb-packed weekend!

Friday
Alex had to watch the baby Friday, but that didn't stop us from getting out and about. After sleeping in a bit longer than usual, I got up and played with the baby for a bit, talked with Alex for a while, then we all got dressed and headed out for some lunch. (Note: Does it seem like eating is one of our favorite things to do?? LOL) Let me tell ya, that little girl really loves her ham & swiss sandwiches! Yummy!
While Alex was in the shower, I took the baby out to the yard to blow bubbles. She really loves making bubbles. :) I brought a couple little champagne poppers (from New Years) out and was going to let her shoot them off. After the first one went off, she was done. It scared the crud out of her! Poor baby.
After the baby was picked up, Alex and I watched "27 Dresses" which was a decent little flick. If you want to see a romantic comedy, this is a cute one.

Late in the afternoon, I rode with my friend Kim over to her sister's house for a 4th of July BBQ. Alex opted out of the event and stayed home to practice for her audition next month for American Idol. (Keep your fingers crossed folks!) Meanwhile, I was having a great time! Good food, good people, great conversation and fun games! The fireworks were amazing! Plus, we were close enough to Lake Shawnee that we got to see the "Spirit of Kansas" fireworks display. Amazing. I really did get a sense of true patriotism while watching the show. Awesome time!

Saturday
Again, I got to sleep in a bit on Saturday. Yeah! We headed out to my mom's house around 10:30 for a lunchtime cookout. I LOVE steak! The food was great and we talked and laughed and carried on for a while. Then we got comfy and watched "Wallace & Gromit's Curse of the Were-Rabbit". Now, I'd never seen any of the Wallace & Gromit movies before, and I thought it was a really cute little movie. LOL. After that, it was naptime. Zzzzzzzzz
We got home around 4:30, did a quick "straighten up the house" job, and kicked back until my friend Brad showed up at 6. I love Brad. He's the best kind of friend to have. No matter what's going on with me or in my life, he always just accepts me how I am. Those kinds of friends are so hard to come by.
We watched a couple comedians' stand up shows on Comedy Central, then went out for mexican food at Taco Villa. YUMMY! We sat andjust talked and ate and laughed for a long time before deciding to watch a movie. "The Golden Compass" was so much like "The Chronicles of Narnia" as far as the way the movie was presented. The storyline was different, of course, but it was one of those far fetched childhood fairytale stories that just wrapped you up in it. The ending..... eh.... it's so obvious there is going to be a sequel. Good show though.

Sunday
Day 3 and I'm still going. I slept in wayyyy too late today. I hope I'm not going to pay for that tomorrow! I woke to the phone ringing, and then the television turned up too loud. UGH!
I got up and sat talking with Alex for a bit. She was heading off to her dad's for a week, so I wanted to get some time in with her before she left, even if it was just sitting in the same room with her and sharing meaningless banter about whatever and whoever. LOL.
I think she was excited to go to her dad's house. I think her dad was pretty excited about it too. Those two are so close. If anything were to ever happen to me, I have no doubt that her dad would be there to smother her in comfort. I have to take this moment to say that her dad is an awesome father. I know he loves her more than anything in this world, I see it, and for that I love who he is.
Speaking of ex-husbands, Mac came in about the same time Alex's dad did. After Alex left, Mac and I went to brunch at Ruby Tuesday's, and then went to see "Hancock" at the theatre. It's always more exciting to see movies on the big screen. The previews for this movie were really funny and it looked like it would be a great movie. It was! Of course, what you don't even get a glimpse of in the preview is the awesome twist. Uh uh uh! No, I will not give you a hint! You'll just have to see it, or find someone else to spoil it for you. LOL.

When I got home from the movie, there was a message from Ryan on the answering machine. Now, I haven't seen him for two weeks. I was starting to wonder what the heck is really going on in this situation. I am just not practiced in dating or in reading men! UGH! So, Ryan and I spent some time talking. I expressed to him my frustration with the fact that he doesn't talk about himself. I also told him how it always seems that he is having a bad day every day that I talk to him. We talked, we laughed, and.... he thinks I'm sexy, funny, and who knows what else he thinks. For the time, all doubts flew out the window. Strange how that can happen sometimes, isn't it? LOL.

Tonight (Still Sunday)
Alone now. Time to relax for a bit. Whew! Left over nachos, a glass of pepsi, and my Sunday night show "In Plain Sight". Kicking back with a sense of ease and peace and quiet. Breath. Ahh.

It's been an extremely packed weekend full of good times. Life is good. And, did I mention he thinks I'm "sexy"? LOL! <Huge Grin>
