Yesterday, my mom and I were at the coffeehouse, which I am frequenting much less often now due to a major hike in prices. Mom had her laptop out and was working on her astronomy blog for Astronomy Today.com (BC is my mom). As usual, she stopped and started skimming through her emails. She opens up this picture of this woman in one and shows it to me. I said "Yeah? Who is it?" She tells me to guess, but I have no idea who it is. She tells me the name of the person, Morgan something-or-other. Still, I have no idea who it is. She then flips to a different picture. I have no clue who it is, so finally she says "It's your brother."

I have friends that are gay, once had a friend who liked to cross-dress, and I don't judge. I may not always understand these things, but that doesn't mean I have to be for or against them. After all, due to my own sexual preference, I have been called "racist" before, which I most certainly am NOT. I'm simply not as attracted to very many men of color. (I'm not sure if that's "PC", but didn't know how else to say it.) But if L.L. Cool J shows up at my door, watch out!! That's one man I'd love to get my hands on. LOL. My feelings for my "sister's" sexual choice are much harder to accept.
If you recall, when my brother made the big announcement of his intentions, he contacted me but would not talk to our mother. And it's funny how it should have been the other way around. She's absolutely fine with it, and I am the one having a hard time taking in the truth of the matter. And to SEE it made it even more difficult.
Have you ever heard someone say "for everyone else, it's fine. But not for my family!" I've always thought of those people as idiots. Am I an idiot? Or something worse? I'm just really really having a hard time accepting this. But, he's so far away from me, does not have an interest in rebuilding our sibling bond after all these years apart. I should just say "hey, that's what makes him happy" and move on, unaffected. Right? I'm an idiot.
