What a busy day! This is the last entry for today, then I'm off to bed! I promise!
Alex had her picture taken by the Topeka Capitol Journal today, and was interviewed about her award for her creative writing. She reitterated the interview with me this evening, and I don't recall it all word for word, but it sounded intelligent and entertaining. A couple of specific things she said stand out in my mind.
1) The woman asked Alex when she started writing. Alex said something like this... "I started writing when I was very young. My mom has stories I wrote from second grade. Most kids would throw temper tantrums when they got mad, but I would just write. That [writing] was my outlet."
2) Alex said that she had given the woman a personal quote about herself and her writing, and as the woman wrote it down she put "eight quotation marks around it". Alex told me "I'm a writer and she's torturing me with her misuse of punctuation!!" ROFL!!! I know the feeling hon!
The paper people are going to notify Alex of the date that the picture and info will be published. When I get the scoop from her, I'll pass it along.
I'm so very proud of my baby girl! Go Alex! I love you!
