Yo Dawg! Here's what's up this week with American Idol! LOL.
Well, it looks like pretty much everyone has realized, now, that this is a competition, and they've got to fight and put on a pretty good show if they plan on winning it! It's about time!
Here's my breakdown. First, the "boys":
Blake: The "beat-box" man really put a good twist on an old song. Personally, I don't like his singing voice alone. But, when you mix in his "sounds" then it is like finding a prize in a boring box of Cheerios©. That "something" that you have to dig through the blah to get... well, that's just fun!
Chris R: He's more than a Justin Timberlake look alike, he's almost a Timberlake "sound-alike". I think that he's a great singer, but we've heard this sound so much in the past few years within all of the boy-bands. I think his sex appeal is the main reason he's staying in this year. He's not bad, but he's not special either.
Chris S: Glad to see the glasses back on your face. I really like Chris Sligh. He's different, sounds pretty good. An all-around good sound comes from this young man. I do NOT like this whole "Fro-Patrol" thing he's trying to pull off though. Have we heard from the "Soul Patrol" lately?? No.
Phil: Tabacco Road is a song that I don't ever think I've heard before. I could do without hearing it again! Phil gave it his all, and it was a fun party song, but I have to agree completely with what Simon said. It made me think of a band in the corner of the bar and a packed dance floor. This poor guy has never really had my support. I just don't think he's going to make it much farther.
Sanjaya: First of all, what the heck is this kid still doing in the competition anyway??? UGH! Yeah, it was his best performance ever, but take away the band and you just have a little indian boy (or whatever) running around in a crowd screaming something into a microphone. I really REALLY didn't like this one.
To sum it up, the boys did much better this week than last, but I think they are going to drop off one by one until the show has the truly awesome singers left. And they are....
The "ladies":
Gina: I love how she is staying with the rocker theme. I can't wait until they do the 70's and 80's when we can see some Joan Jett and maybe even some Stevie Nicks come out of this gal. Tonight I though she did okay. I didn't know most of the songs, but this one was pretty good overall.
Haley: Wow... what can I say here? I actually can't even remember what song she sang. All I remember is the skimpy little outfit. UGH!
Jordin: How can you NOT love this little girl?? I was sooo moved by the song she sang tonight that I'm going to see if I can find a sound clip of the original. I loved the delivery, the believable feelings she portrayed, and she just made me want to cry for her. Loved it, loved it, LOVED IT!
Lakisha: Oh, I love me some Lakisha, but I absolutely hate that song. I just kept telling myself "she's always been awesome, so one song won't matter". I hope I'm right. C'mon America, vote for this lady!!
Stephanie: Can this girl catch a break? I know she is not the BEST of all the ladies, but she doesn't deserve to be slammed each and every time she sings! She has a lovely voice, and I love the soul sound she can deliver. Maybe she does need a little work, but I'd rather listen to her than to Haley or Gina.
Melinda: I'm glad they closed the show with Melinda tonight. I saw a sign in the audience that had "Doolittle" crossed out and replaced with "Do LOTS"! LOL. Right on! This little powerhouse knows that you can have great control, hold back a little, and let it all loose towards the end. Plus, I think that she only chooses songs that she can deliver a feeling with. Great Job!
My choice for bottom three this week are:
Phil Stacy
| Sanjaya Whatshisname
Stephanie Edwards (sorry)
