Lots of stuff!!

Halloween has come and gone. Alex, Justin and I went to the movies. Alex saw Red Eye, and Justin and I saw Four Brothers. Excellent movie. Then, we went for coffee and went home to watch Unleashed with Jet Li. Awesome. Not what I expected.

My mother teaches a class for Highland Community College. Her students are learning about writing. Right now, they are learning about writing poetry. Ahh, my favorite. She invited Alex and I to come out and read some of our pieces. When she introduced us, she did not say that we were her daughter and granddaughter. No, no. She simply stated that we were 2 long-time writers of poetry and short stories. Alex and I never really share much of our work with each other. This was a treat for both of us. As it turns out, Alex is the light to my dark. I write of torment, pain, grief, and heartache. She, on the other hand, writes of hope, longing, goals, and bliss. I was amazed at her work. She holds the key for a positive future. I am glad that I have been able to keep her protected from all the things that could have hurt her while she was growing up, but was still able to allow her to observe some hardships at a safe distance. I love my baby girl.

This week, Justin and I made "crazy cones". These are ice cream cones filled with cake batter and baked. It's the ice cream cone that doesn't melt. LOL. We (and by "we", I mean "me") made an awful mess of it. The cones were over filled and dripped batter down into the oven. By the time they were done, they looked like MELTED ice cream cones. LOL. But, tasty, nonetheless.

Last week felt like it would never end. The time change has fucked up people's sleeping patterns and made them irritable or groggy. As for me, I'm simply stressed. Not that anything is wrong or that there are problems at all. There just aren't enough hours in a day sometimes. I have so much I want to do or get done, and not enough time to do it all.

Thanksgiving is just a couple weeks away. I have a Thanksgiving dinner a week before the holiday since my family is so broken up. My dad, remarried, spends the holiday with his wife's family. While my mom, remarried, spends the holiday with her husband's family. And my daughter's dad, well, I'm not sure if he'll want to take her for the holiday or not. But, this year, Justin cannot get off work the Friday after Thanksgiving to go to Denver with his family. Maybe he and I will just have a nice dinner at my home. I think an italian dinner would be good. LOL. We LOVE italian!!

So, I think I'm caught up for now. Maybe next time I'll write a turkey poem. LOL. Just for giggles. G'night Friends.
