This weekend, we went out of town. By "we" I mean me and Justin. We were planning on going to Salina and visiting the zoo and stuff, but we decided to go east instead. We hit 3 little towns. Higginsville, Warrensburg, and Kingsville.
In Higginsville, we went to a Veteran's Memorial Cemetary. It was neat to read the names on the stones and the walls. One guy was in the army, navy, AND marines. He served in WWII, Vietnam, and I think something else, but I forgot now. Some of the graves were fresh, marking that the man/men were KIA. I didn't know what that meant until Justin told me. It means "Killed In Action". It's sad really.
In Warrensburg, we got a hotel room and got dressed up for a "date". Then we went out to a nice little Italian place. After dinner, we were out in search of a coffeehouse. ANY coffeehouse. What we found was that there were 2 places to get espresso drinks. One was closed on Sundays (&*%$$*!!!!) and the other closed at 9pm! Fortunately, I'm a planner. I had brought some fine Taramisu grounds from Lazio's and brewed them in the motel room. Whew!! Nice save, eh? LOL
On Sunday, we found a nice little restraunt that was still serving breakfast. It was very nice and quiet. The food was pretty good for a buffet. Then, we hit the road back to Topeka. On the way home, we checked out the map and found something else along the way.
Powell Gardens is in Kingsville, MO. I say that if you have time on the weekend, go there. It's wonderful and beautiful and so peaceful! They had treehouses all over the place, and a scarecrow contest was going on. It was neat and different. The gardens surround a good size lake. I will have to get pictures uploaded to show you some of the wonderful sights there. We walked about 2 miles around the lake, looking at the chapel and the treehouses and the awesome natural setting of the entire place. There were even people squaredancing there! Truly worth the unexpected visit.
Sunday, we got home. Man, did I need a nap! We were both still sick, but well over the nasty gross part of it. I went to bed at NINE! That's kinda early, even for me.
That was our awesome unexpected trip, in a nutshell. And we plan to do it again soon. I wonder where we'll end up next time?

It's about time you got out and did something on your own....or should I say "with some one." And it's about time you came out of the closet as well (Justin). Life is short....enjoy. Even "one moment" of love and companionship is better then a thousand moments alone.
What I think MJ meant by "... coming out of the closet.... (Justin)" is that I'm finally talking about him on here. LOL. I just don't want any confusion about the comment. LOL. Although, it's quite funny that I had to put this comment here. :D
